What is a split sheet?
A one-page agreement that lists everyone who wrote or produced a song and the share each one owns. Publishers, PROs and labels ask for it when money starts coming in.
When should we fill it out?
The day the song is written, before anyone releases it. Splits are easy to agree on before there's money involved.
Is this a legal contract?
It's a written record of what you all agreed and everyone signs it. For bigger deals or disputes, have a music lawyer look it over.
