The two dates that matter
- 4 WEEKS BEFORE RELEASEUpload to your distributor. Spotify editorial pitches need the song in their system at least 7 days ahead, and earlier is better.
- WEEKS 2 TO 4 AFTERMost songs grow after release week, not during it. Keep posting while the algorithm is still testing your track.

Want a plan built around your song? The Release Planner turns your date, genre and city into a researched 30-day rollout. One plan a month is free.
How far ahead should I upload my song?
Four weeks is the safe window. It gives your distributor time to deliver to every store and gives you time to pitch to Spotify's editorial team before release day.
What do I need before uploading?
A WAV master, a 3000×3000 cover, clean metadata with legal songwriter names, and a signed split sheet if anyone else worked on the song.
What should I do after release?
Keep going. Most independent songs pick up in weeks two to four as playlists and the algorithm test them, so keep posting and reacting to what listeners share.
